"Use the natural talent of your people"

Geoff Appleton

Outcomes from Geoff's presentation:

-Understand how to pick the best from your short list of candidates.
-Get the best out of your team by using each person more effectively.
-Recognise the time to move people out of your business

Geoff Appleton

Working for large corporations, primarily in the travel and tourism industry, has given Geoff a real insight to how individuals respond to leadership styles, both in small and large teams. His work with major global airlines has seen him living in more than 20 countries providing a thorough cross cultural background, often leading teams of locally employed managers.

An appointment to oversee a cabin crew workforce of several thousand people provided a peak experience and understanding of delegation, people involvement and industrial relations negotiations, having also been involved in collective bargaining through the Betriebsrat system in Germany.

Geoff is a planner and strategist at heart but has had many operational roles including day to day management at major airports. This has led to more General Management roles including the control of one of the largest national corporate travel agencies, which experienced a significant financial turnaround during his leadership of the small management team there.

His sales and marketing activities have brought him close to advertising agencies, hotels and National Tourism Organisations, latterly becoming involved directly in the business of Outdoor Advertising.

More recently, Geoff was appointed by a major financial institution to manage their key national and global relationships in Sydney. This brought him alongside corporate executives in a variety of market segments, allowing an opportunity to study similarities and differences in the way business was being conducted.

During the last 7 years he has been running a small business helping leaders get the best from themselves and from the people that they lead.  He is the Joint Founder and Managing Partner of Polonious Resources, a Human Resource Consultancy.

Blood in the Water

Adrian Rainey

Adrian Rainey is a world-leading authority on the power of commitment. He played professional rugby league at 18 years of age and was crowned rookie of the year. At 19 years of age, he tested positive for a performance enhancing substance. Banned from playing for two years, he worked and trained alone. Returning two years later, he played in a grand final squad with the Parramatta Eels. As if he had never been away from the game, he reestablished his early momentum. Soon an opportunity to move to England and play for Hull KR was given to him and he took it. At the age of 25, back in Australia playing for the Bulldogs, he decided to retire from playing professional rugby league. The thought of investing boundless energy into business excited him too much. He opened his first business and started training people outdoors.Very quickly he moved into a premises and went from no income to turning over black belt income in less than 6 months. Within 12 months he was managing up to 12 staff and became one of Australia's most successful personal training studios. Over the last 5 years he has sold millions of dollars worth of training programs by understanding the changing nature of consumer behavior. After starting out his career in the National Rugby League and overcoming a major setback to return to this elite level and then becoming a successful entrepreneur, he most recently authored his first pocket book, Blood In The Water: The Power Of Commitment.

Adrian shares his real world experience on commitment along with his natural ability to create a powerful message that will literally transform the way you think and feel about your career, business and your life.

Peter Shaw "Sales strategies - getting inside the customers head"

"Sales strategies - getting inside the customers head"

Peter Shaw

Here is a quick summary of Peter's presentation
The presentation was a small piece borrowed from our 4 day business workshop. We looked at some questions you can easily insert into your business, especially if you can harness the power of the clipboard!
-"What is important to you about [product/service]?"
-"How will you know when you've got what you want?"
-"How many options do you need to consider?"
-Ask them if they have made a similar purchase before... then "How did you know it was the one for you?"

For all of these questions, you record the answers in your mind, or on the clipboard, and then feed the answers back and ALLOW them to buy during your sales interaction. You should find yourself speaking directly to the core of the person, and lighting them up!

Of course, these are just a small part of an entire business, but very important parts to have and refine.

Camilla Mendoza -What Motivates You and Drives Your Success

"What Motivates You and Drives Your Success"

Camilla Mendoza

For many people, the ability to achieve a well-balanced yet still financially successful life can often be a huge challenge.  Working with people in my capacity as a business-life coach, one of the biggest issues that keeps coming up time and time again for my clients, is how does one go about creating the perfect work/life balance?  By that I mean spending the appropriate amount of time and energy on what I consider to be the five key areas of life and what I call the ‘5Fs’… Family, Friendships, Fitness, Finances and Fun!

Unbeknownst to many, more often than not what motivates us and drives us to achieve success in one area of life and not the other has a lot to do with the importance or ‘value’ that we place on it.  The more important something is on our ‘agenda’ the more likely it is to get done.

In my talk I will explore the relationship that exists between ourselves and our subconscious beliefs and values and how their hierarchy profoundly affects not just the degree of motivation we put towards getting something done but also our ability to achieve a positive end result.

In this presentation you will…

*   Gain insight into how the brain works and why getting what we want out of life has a lot to do with the power of our subconscious programming.
*  Understand the difference between our beliefs, values and ‘success drivers’ and gain an appreciation as to why they are our ‘compass’ for the future.
*  Learn some simple strategies to help change the hierarchy of your values so they are more congruent with what you want from life.

About Camilla:

Camilla Mendoza is an experienced facilitator, public speaker and performance coach with a special interest and expertise in helping people to gain financial acuity and independence.

Camilla started her first business, a highly successful corporate events company, in 1990.  She has remained self-employed ever since and has developed a deep understanding of what it takes to run and operate a successful business.  Camilla combines experience in a range of small businesses with a background in international advertising and public relations, working as vice president of Manhattan PR firm North American Precis Syndicate.  Camilla was also an accredited mortgage broker for many years.

Camilla has a reputation for being a fairly ‘tough’ coach and works best with clients who want to step up to the mark and make massive changes to their lives quickly.

She currently works with a number of small business owners teaching them strategies to gain and maintain control of their finances as well as helping them to develop the necessary skills that encourage and promote a healthy and prosperous work environment. She also shares insights into the workings of the subconscious mind and explores the repetitive patterns of behaviour that can stop us from getting what we want from life.

Camilla’s “Money Mastery for Women” workshop teaches women powerful strategies to manage their money and get rid of debt.  She is passionate about showing others the power and freedom afforded by financial independence.

Clients leave her workshop not only with some very useful, practical tools to reduce their debt quickly and painlessly but with some of the all-important "mind-sets" that are vital to wealth creation.

Camilla is thrilled to be sharing her business and personal insights with others, and helping them to achieve their dreams
