Information for First-Time Guests

If you're about to visit a Northern Beaches Business Swap meeting for the first time, this information will help you feel more comfortable and relaxed when you attend.

What to Bring:

Business Cards – Bring plenty of business cards to exchange with members and other guests.

Name Tag – If you have your own business name tag, please bring it as it helps when introducing yourself to others.

"Elevator Speech" – At the start of the Meeting, the President asks each person to introduce themselves with a short 30 second elevator speech of who you are, your business name, what you do and how you help your clients. You do not have to stand up but remember that it is a great way to introduce yourself to everyone in the room. Listen to the other members as they introduce themselves, make notes of people whom you might like to speak to after the meeting.

‘Thought of the Day’ – After your elevator speech, you are asked to give a positive ‘Thought of the Day’. It may be your favourite affirmation or an inspirational saying. There is often a prize for the best 'Thought of the Day' and the choice of winner is totally dependant of what appeals to the judge on that day.

When You Arrive:

Registration – As you enter the meeting room, there will be a registration table where the volunteer members behind the desk will check your name and take payment details if required. They will ask you for a business card so that we have the correct details.

Networking – Northern Beaches Business Swap does not have a formalised networking structure throughout the meeting program, however it is a great way to meet new business contacts and build long lasting business relationships. Arrive early so you have time to meet some new people prior to the official meeting start.

At the End of the Meeting:

All Northern Beaches Business Swap meetings end with the positive affirmation "I'm alive, I'm well and I feel great!". We encourage you join in and end the meeting on a high.

After the Meeting:

Networking - generally members and guests continue to network with each other for an additional 30 minutes after the meeting has officially closed.
